Google is starting to use page experience signal that measures how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page. The goal is to make the experience more delightful by optimizing these factors. This ultimately will improve user engagement and conversion.

Core Web Vitals are a set of rea-world, user-centered metrics used to quantify key aspects of the user experience. They measure load time, interactivity, and stability of content as it loads! The signals derived from Core Web Vitals are combined with existing search signals for page experience; mobile-friendliness, Safe-Browsing, Https-Security and Intrusive Interstitial Guidelines.

This is an ongoing effort from Google to align search results with evolving user expectations and increase the aspects of user experience to measure.
